What do we do?

Education and Nutrition

The Centre offers an Early Years Education programme and care for 34 children, age 2-5 years old from the Kwanomzamo Location and surrounding farms in the Riebeeck East area. Every day 70 meals are prepared to fill hungry tummys and to ensure our children have the capacity to take part in the daily acitivities the programme offers.

Computer literacy

With the financial sponsorship from Bytes Universal, a digital workspace was created and a satelite internet installed. Computer tuition classes are offered daily to local school children. More that 20 children attend these afternoon classes every day.

X - Generational Training

Once a week, during a Wednesday morning you will find the youngest of our community toddling off to the Riebeeck East Service Centre. During the next hour or so, our little ones will with our community Goggos, engage in traditional story telling, singing and be taught nearly forgotten craft skills suchs as beading and claywork.

Empowering young women

The Ibhabhathane employs three young women who are receiving training regarding child care and nutrition. A career path in Early Childhood Education is possible through partnership with Rhodes University and the Department of Education.

Our dreams and wish list

We would love to have the holes in our floors and ceilings fixed. To expand the outside play area and to include a junglegym suitable for young children. We want to make sure we can pay our staff their salaries and continue their training. We desperately need the premises to be fenced in, in order to keep little bodies safe and to make a veggie patch that will be sheep and goat proof.

Should you consider being part of this project and want to show your support whether it be financial, your skills or joining us on FaceBook do not hesitate to contact us.
